Edintonne (/edintonne/ [Translation Unavailable]) is a subtropical Large Town located in the Gumada Provence of the Kingdom of Hobben.
The name Edintonne is derived from the Sylvin language, as Edintonne was founded by Strahs Duke, who was culturaly Sylvin.
Climate
Edintonne has a yearly average temperature of 26°C (78°F), with its average temperature during the summer being a hot 31°C (87°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a pleasant 22°C (71°F). Edintonne receives an average of 281 cm/y (110 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of rain during the summer. Edintonne covers an area of nearly 7 km2 (2 mi2), and an average elevation of 4184 m (13727 ft) above sea level.
Overview
Edintonne was founded durring the early 15th century in summer of the year 1403, by Strahs Duke. The establishment of Edintonne was plagued by a lack of willing colonists. After attempts to pay people to resettle failed Strahs Duke struck deals with nearby nations and communities to establish Edintonne as a prison colony.
Edintonne was built using the conventions of Sylvin durring the early 15th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Edintonne is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature waddle and daub construction with good timber frames and a stone foundation protected by thatched or shingled rooves. Most buildings with second floors are built in such a way as to overhang into the streets on the upper floors for more space, as building size seems to be the primary indicator of wealth within the community. Most buildings are not decorated with any integral features, but instead use ivy, flowers, and other natural elements in planters of on trellices to breathe life into the structure they grow upon.
Edintonne is buildings folow an organic layout of narrow canals streets whihch gives the town a shape simmilar to a tree, if one views its streets from above. The town posesses a mighty albit amaturly crafted stone wall. It was built using querried stone blocks and posesses all of the standard defencive features, including a few watch towers. While it would last against a siege, the wall's outdated and simplistic construction method percludes the possability of Edintonne weathering a full scale bombardment durring a siege. Astonishigly, the budget focused millitary grade defenses are in pristine condishion, as if they had just been finished before you laied eyes upon them.
A look around Edintonne is like a look into a broken heart which long ago fell to corruption. There is no planning, no organization. Everyone here clearly goes about their own thing with little thought to anyone around them who isn’t selling something they need… unless of course, they would be an easy target for some robbery. The town has truly fallen to evil.
Civic Infrastructure
Edintonne has an Office of Civil Groundskeeping, which works to enforce local ordinances relating to the construction and upkeep up of all plant life, water features, and other natural decorations within Edintonne. They are also responsible for the maintenance of these features. Notably, the OCG is not responsible for Edintonne's parks.
Edintonne has an Office of Civil Vicary, which is responsible for providing a livelyhood for all officialy recognised religious figures within Edintonne.
Edintonne has a Gravedigger's Guild, which is responsible for collecting the dead and laying them to rest according to all applicable laws and religious customs.
Edintonne has a Highwayman's Guild, which is tasked with maintaining the roads and highways leading into town as well as keeping them safe for travelers.
Edintonne has a monistary of an order of Civil Monks, who provide divine-related services to the general public and maintain Edintonne's public wards, blessings, and other arcane systems.
Edintonne possesses a Galvanic Power Grid, which brings galvanic current to most if not all buildings in town, and permits a great many consumer goods to function within the Large Town. Edintonne's grid is powered by mana accumulators.
Edintonne has a first rate hospital which caters to anyone in need of long term medical care.
Edintonne has a Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for the construction, management, and usage rights for all of its parks and parklands. They are not to be confused with the Office of Civil Groundskeeping as they do not hold authority over nor responsibility for Edintonne's natural decorations nor waterways.
Edintonne has a Guild of Roadworkers, who are responsible for maintaining the roadways and public paths within town. They also have the duty of enforcing all civil laws relating to the roadways.
Edintonne has a public schooling program overseen by the Hall of Sages who has the responsibility of ensuring access to affordable high-quality education in all basic classes (Reading, Writing, Mathmatics, General Sciences, General Arcana, and Social Education) is made available to all citizens.
Edintonne has a public septic system, which allows its citizens to have indoor bathrooms. The septic system is overseen by the League of Sewerkeepers, who posses the legal authority to enforce all laws relating to the septic system, and are also tasked with its maintenance and upkeep.
Cultural Notes
Edintonne's garrison was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is best known for its striking sculptural forms and often dazzling ornamental detail that characterizes the buildings general shape. The radiant colors, rich patterns, and symmetrical silhouettes employed by this style were backed up by rich decorative features including gardens, courtyards, extruded arches, domes, pointed domes, vaulted ceilings, elaborate painted and inlaid designs, and decorative sculptures.
In Edintonne there are no smells.
The Bonewrought Willow near Edintonne are known to be almost tame, such that they can be put to domestic use.
Edintonne's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in summer and involves drinking to channel Invocation energies of tier 3 via oath swearing.

History
Edintonne used to be more prosperous, but something happened relatively long ago that left it a shrunken shadow of its former self. If the settlement is prosperous, the locals often lament how much more they could have had. If the settlement is not prosperous, the locals blame their ill fortunes on that event. Reminders of this better time can be found in many places within Edintonne.
In time immemorial, reportedly some time during the late 2nd century, Edintonne was attacked by savage tribes living nearby Edintonne. The details of the conflict are hazy at best due to many conflicting accounts. What is known is Edintonne lost 100 people, 153 livestock, and 46 buildings. The conflict ended after roughly 34, when members of Edintonne's militia enacted an operation to transport a specific war machine to a particular mine unharmed. The operation was complicated by aggravated civilians, who cause problems for the militia for a host of reasons. The conflict ended with pitched battle between both forces, which ended in defeat for Edintonne's forces. The war is remembered in legend by Edintonne's bards, historians, and legend keepers.
